Three suitcases and an one-way ticket

The Master Thesis defense is done. In a way it felt like a conference presentation and a paper peer review process all in one! As a friend said: “That’s why it’s called a defense”. All and all an interesting experience.

With that done however there’s nothing left to do in this part of the world. At least regarding the Masters… I have to say bye, or rather au revoir, to good friends and colleagues, book an one-way ticket, hopefully using those RBC points at last, and fit two years in, at most, three suitcases. Then 2 days on planes and airports until I reach Athens…

I know that the situation could should be better over there but someone has to fix it, I guess. Today, at a friend’s convocation here at UBC, the Chancellor wanting to give an example of how much interconnected the world has become she talked about the proposed referendum’s global economic backlash and how a small country like Greece can affect, negatively, the global economy. She did not mean to insult anybody that much was clear, however, I felt that enough is enough. It is time we shaped up. We have to try at least.

How’s it going to feel spending more that 15 days with the guys at home? I suppose those 20 pounds will be restored thanks to home cooking, cheap take outs and alcohol amounts capable to lead to poisoning but promised to friends nonetheless.

11 consecutive months under the Vancouverite sky… I’m going to miss it… just give it a couple of months.
